The main objective of Ocean Modelling is to provide rapid communication between those interested in ocean modelling, whether through direct observation, or through analytical, numerical or laboratory models, and including interactions between physical and biogeochemical or biological phenomena. Because of the intimate links between ocean and atmosphere, involvement of scientists interested in influences of either medium on the other is welcome. The journal has a wide scope and includes ocean-atmosphere interaction in various forms as well as pure ocean results. In addition to primary peer-reviewed papers, the journal provides review papers, preliminary communications, and discussions.

海洋建模的主要目标是通过直接观测或通过分析、数值或实验室模型，在对海洋建模感兴趣的人之间提供快速交流，包括物理和生物地球化学或生物现象之间的相互作用。由于海洋和大气层之间的密切联系，欢迎对两种介质中的一种对另一种的影响感兴趣的科学家参与。该杂志范围广泛，包括各种形式的海洋-大气相互作用以及纯粹的海洋结果。除了主要的同行评审论文外，该杂志还提供综述论文、初步交流和讨论。
