The Biological Bulletin disseminates novel scientific results in broadly related fields of biology in keeping with more than 100 years of a tradition of excellence. The Bulletin publishes outstanding original research with an overarching goal of explaining how organisms develop, function, and evolve in their natural environments. To that end, the journal publishes papers in the fields of Neurobiology and Behavior, Physiology and Biomechanics, Ecology and Evolution, Development and Reproduction, Cell Biology, Symbiosis and Systematics. The Bulletin emphasizes basic research on marine model systems but includes articles of an interdisciplinary nature when appropriate.

《生物学公报》秉承100多年的优秀传统，传播广泛相关的生物学领域的新科学成果。该公报发表杰出的原创研究，其首要目标是解释生物体如何在其自然环境中发育、功能和进化。为此，该杂志发表神经生物学和行为学、生理学和生物力学、生态学和进化、发育和生殖、细胞生物学、共生和系统学等领域的论文。《公报》强调关于海洋模型系统的基础研究，但在适当情况下也包括跨学科性质的文章。
